State Development Grant Program (West Virginia) is sponsored by WV State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). Assists organizations and individuals in the preservation, protection, rehabilitation, restoration, and stabilization of properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places or contributing structures in a National Register Historic District.

## Preservation Alliance of West Virginia (PAWV) **Historic Preservation Loan Fund** **_Eligibility:_** Individuals, non-profits, and for profit business entities.

**_Funding used for:_** The loan fund provides capital, development expertise and technical assistance to property owners who are renovating historic buildings **_Fund description:_**Up to $50,000 for loan guarantees or up to 20% guarantee of the loan amount **_Deadline:_**Year round application acceptance ## WV State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) The Division of Culture and History’s **State Historic Preservation Office**administers both the state and federal historic preservation programs.

It aids federal and state agencies, local governments and the general public in identifying and preserving the physical historic and prehistoric resources of West Virginia. **State Development Grant Program** **_Eligibility:_**Properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places or a contributing property in a historic district and/or archaeological development listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

**_Funding used for:_** To assist organizations and individuals in the preservation, protection, rehabilitation, restoration, stabilization of a property listed in the National Register of Historic Places or a contributing structure in a National Register Historic District. **_Fund description:_**$100,000 and above will be available for grant awards; No grant will be awarded for less than $1,000.

**_Deadline:_**September 30th **Survey and Planning Grant (CLG Grant Program)** **_Eligibility:_** All Certified Local Governments (CLG) are eligible to compete for CLG grant funds. If other non-CLG funding is available, the following are eligible: State or local government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, for-profit organizations or firms, and educational institutions.

**_Funding used for:_**To identify and evaluate properties in an area or by theme to determine whether they may be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

**_Fund description:_**Grant funded through Historic Preservation Fund / National Park Service; No grant will be awarded for less than $1,000 **_Deadline:_**Annually in October ## National Park Service Technical Preservation Services The National Park Service also offers programs for preservation activities.

**Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program** _**Eligibility:**_ Private investor in the rehabilitation of a historic building; owner-occupied buildings do not qualify. **_Funding used for:_**To encourage private sector involvement in the rehabilitation and re-use of historic buildings. **_Fund description:_**20% Income Tax Credit and a 10% Tax Credit **Deadline:** Available year-round.

pdf)**_Funding used for:_**In a typical preservation easement, a property owner places restrictions on the development of, or changes to, the property and transfers these restrictions to a qualified organization whose mission includes environmental protection, land conservation, open space preservation, or historic preservation **_Fund description:_**Federal income tax deduction for the value of the easement, and Federal estate taxes may be reduced.

Additionally, some state tax codes provide state tax benefits for conservation easement contributions. **Deadline:**Available year-round. ## National Trust for Historic Preservation The **National Trust for Historic Preservation** is a privately funded nonprofit organization that works to save America’s historic places.
