Nevada Department of Education Announces $15M DonorsChoose Grant Program Nevada Department of Education Announces $15M DonorsChoose Grant Program Nevada Department of Education Announces $15M DonorsChoose Grant Program CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education is pleased to announce the return of the DonorsChoose grant program. Funding is made possible by Senate Bill 90 sponsored by Sen.
Marilyn Dondero Loop, passed by the Nevada Legislature during the 2025 session, and signed into law by Governor Joe Lombardo. The grant program will provide Nevada public school educators with up to $500 for classroom projects. Eligible requests will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on Jan.

“As a retired Clark County teacher, I understand how common it is for educators to spend money out of pocket on classroom supplies. I am thankful for our continued partnership with DonorsChoose and the opportunity to support educators in providing students with hands-on learning opportunities. ” In total, $15 million is allocated for the 2025-27 biennium - $7.
5 million for each fiscal year. “We know that educators pay for classroom supplies out of their own pockets to provide hands-on learning opportunities for their students,” said Dr. Victor Wakefield, Superintendent of Public Instruction .
“I am grateful for Governor Lombardo and the Legislature providing additional funding to continue the DonorsChoose grant program, alleviating some of the financial burden for hardworking educators across our state. ” The grant program is built on the success of a previous partnership between the Nevada Department of Education and DonorsChoose, a nonprofit crowdfunding website.
State legislators appropriated $10 million of state general funds during the 2023 session and $15 million during the 2025 session. As part of the partnership with the Nevada Department of Education, DonorsChoose will ensure that any requests for instructional materials align with Nevada Academic Content Standards.
Full-time preschool through 12th grade Nevada public school educators who spend at least half of their time directly educating or counseling students are eligible to create a project. Eligible projects are anticipated to be funded within one week of posting. Educators can learn more about creating a DonorsChoose project in the organization’s project page .
