Stay Gold Fund Grants for Individuals

The Stay Gold Fund Grants for Individuals is a grant from the Stonewall Community Foundation that provides financial assistance to LGBTQ+ individuals in New York State. Established by novelist and playwright Tobly McSmith, the fund awards up to $10,000 to support LGBTQ+ individuals seeking gender-affirming care.

Eligibility requirements include being at least 18 years of age, residing in New York State and planning to have any procedure done in the state, having raised or saved at least 30% of the procedure cost or having that amount covered by insurance, and identifying as LGBTQ+. The Stonewall Community Foundation funds grants and scholarships exclusively to institutions within the United States and its territories.

Multiple grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded this fall. Grants are paid directly to the recipient’s gender-affirming care provider.

To be eligible, applicants must: Be 18 years of age or older Live in and plan to have their procedure done in New York State Have raised or saved at least 30% of the cost of their procedure, or have at least 30% of the cost of the procedure covered by insurance Have identified and contacted a provider for their procedure (all funds will go directly to provider) Demonstrate emotional urgency Be able to demonstrate a support system that can see to their needs in the weeks that follow gender affirming care Applications for 2025 Stay Gold grants are now closed.
