STEM Action Grants - Society for Science Close the sitewide search The STEM Action Grants program provides small grants of up to $5,000 to innovative nonprofit organizations led by social entrepreneurs. The STEM Action Grants program aims to bolster and support community-driven nonprofit organizations that are working to enhance the public’s understanding of science and to increase participation in STEM in their communities.
Since its launch in 2016, the STEM Action Grants program has awarded a total of $1,715,000 to 193 impactful organizations . Grantees may apply for up to $5,000 in funding and may apply to renew for up to three years. Organizations that receive funding for three years are also eligible to apply for a $10,000 capacity-building grant.
2026 STEM Action Grantees Society for Science is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 STEM Action Grants, awarded to 61 organizations representing 31 states, Washington D. C. , and Puerto Rico.

The funding will help educators, schools and community organizations prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and innovators. “Weeks before the scheduled program, Puerto Rico was devastated by two hurricanes, leaving much of the island was without power. However, a brave group from Guaynabo gathered technology and students together to participate in a virtual field trip.

Thanks in part to previous STEM Action Grant funding, the organization’s Outdoor Learning Lab youth programs have expanded to include more environmental STEM lessons.
