Strengthening Every Angle Nonprofit community-based organizations have had to navigate enormous challenges over the past six years—everything from a devastating pandemic to drastic federal funding cuts.
Nonprofits play a vital role in the health of our community, but the tumultuous political and socioeconomic environment has led to instability and strain for many organizations that provide essential care. To help address these needs, the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York is issuing a Request for Applications for a new program: the Strengthening Every Angle (SEA) Change Fund .
The program is designed to help organizations strengthen every angle of their operations by providing funds for general operating support as well as resources to build capacity in data and storytelling. The program is designed to support organizations as a whole, not specific programs, with general operating grants and capacity building support.
The Health Foundation will choose 16 organizations—8 from western New York and 8 from central New York—for SEA Change funding. Each grantee will receive $100,000 in general operating support. Additionally, we’ll provide individualized coaching and skill building in data and storytelling.

This funding opportunity is limited to direct service providers that provide health and social services to one or more of the following groups: Informal caregivers supporting older adults To be considered for funding, your organization must also: Be located in and operate within one or more of the 16 counties we serve Due to the limited amount of funding available, we will not fund current Health Foundation grantees that have active grants with awards in excess of $50,000.
We are exploring future capacity building opportunities for current grantees. Better Data, Stronger Narratives Sustainability depends on good data and the ability to shape and control your narrative. Through SEA Change, your nonprofit organization can learn how to use your data to better understand what you’re doing well and what you need to improve in.
Being strategic and efficient while using mission-centric storytelling is crucial in the nonprofit world, where resources are limited but the needs are great. You’ll also learn how to use data-informed insights to create clear narratives that advance your mission. Questions?

The European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) is a EUR 1.5 billion two-year initiative adopted by the European Commission on 30 March 2026 to strengthen the European Union and Ukrainian defence industrial base. The programme allocates funding across six major pillars: production capacity (EUR 700M+ for counter-drones, missiles, ammunition); joint procurement (EUR 240M for counter-drone, air/missile defence, combat systems); European Defence Projects of Common Interest (EUR 325M); Ukraine Support Instrument (EUR 260M); Start-up/SME equity support via FAST (EUR 100M for defence supply chain transformation); and BraveTech EU Innovation (EUR 35.3M). Unmanned systems (UxS), counter-drone technology, and AI-enabled autonomy emerge as the most cross-cutting priorities, appearing across every major funding pillar. My Safe Florida Home Program is a grant from the Florida Legislature, administered by the Florida Department of Financial Services, that helps Florida homeowners strengthen their homes against hurricane damage. The program provides free wind mitigation inspections and matching grants of up to $10,000—contributing $2 in state funds for every $1 the homeowner spends—for approved wind-resistance upgrades. Any owner of a site-built single-family residential property in Florida is eligible to apply. The process involves completing a prioritization questionnaire, being placed in an inspection group, scheduling a free wind mitigation inspection, and then applying for grant funds based on the inspection findings. The program aims to reduce hurricane-related property damage and help Florida homeowners become better prepared for storm season.
Strengthening the Safety Net Program is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. This program funds clinics throughout Michigan that provide free or low-cost medical, dental, and behavioral health services. Every year since 2005, Blue Cross has supported up to 50 clinics providing care for more than 250,000 patients.
The Health Foundation for Western & Central New York built a fund specifically for nonprofits destabilized by public funding changes, then received more than 100 applications for 16 grants. The award structure — $100,000 unrestricted plus a separate $400,000 capacity-building pool — is the emerging template for regional health philanthropy in 2026, and it is nowhere near large enough to replace what was lost.
