WHAT IS THE STUDENT INVESTMENT PROGRAM (SIP)? The Student Investment Program (SIP) offers a refreshing ‘sip’ of investment knowledge to promote financial well-being to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
For students interested in investments and stocks but uncertain about how to get started, this program provides the perfect launch pad to dive into the world of finance. In partnership with Stackwell and other philanthropic sponsors, SIP has proudly welcomed over 1000 students from 15 HBCUs. This initiative is more than just learning about stocks and trades; it’s a step towards fostering a new generation of savvy investors.
If you’re a student eager to learn about the intricacies of investing and ready to put your knowledge to the test, SIP is your program to shine. We are excited to launch the expansion of the Student Investment Program, offering financial wellness education to the entire student body at each of ten SFI participating schools (listed below), and $1,000 in seed funding to 300 student participants across the schools listed below.

Hands-On Investment Experience Receive a $1,000 grant to manage and invest in a real-world setting, providing practical experience in navigating the stock market. Empowerment in Wealth-Building The program is designed to empower students with the skills and knowledge needed to build and sustain personal wealth.
The Student Investment Program empowers students from participating institutions with practical investment experience and financial literacy, bridging the wealth gap and nurturing the next generation of financially savvy leaders.
Participating INSTITUTIONS Eligible Institutions: Bowie State University, Claflin University, Clark Atlanta University, Dillard University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Morehouse College, Norfolk State University, Prairie View A&M University, Southern University and A&M College, Texas Southern University, Tuskegee University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of the District of Columbia, and Xavier University of Louisiana.
Academic Year: Undergraduate Students Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Visa, Green Card, or ITIN holder. Eligible Majors: All majors are eligible Enrollment Status: Full-time, half-time or part-time Additional Requirements: Eligible students must complete workshops to receive funding.
