Student Research and Travel Grant Program is sponsored by The University of Tulsa. This program provides financial assistance for graduate students at the University of Tulsa to present their scholarship in a national or international forum and to engage in worthwhile research projects.

Graduate Financial Assistance Chapman Graduate Scholar Presentation Award Program The University of Tulsa Chapman Graduate Scholar Presentation Awards Program provides assistance for graduate students to present their scholarship in a national or international forum to enhance the student’s career opportunities.

Any enrolled graduate student who is a senior author on an abstract and orally presenting research conducted at the University of Tulsa may apply. The maximum amount of an individual award will be $1,000 for master’s students and $1,500 for doctoral students. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, pending availability of funds within the Graduate School.

Students are encouraged to submit requests as early as possible, as funds may run out over the course of the year.

Chapman Graduate Scholar Presentation Award Program Student Research and Travel Grant Program Application The University of Tulsa Student Research and Travel Grant Program helps students to engage in worthwhile research projects and presentations at professional meetings that otherwise may not be possible as a result of a lack of financial support.

It is also hoped this grant program will open new areas of research and stimulate more students to engage in research activities and professional meetings.

Objective: The Chapman Graduate Scholar Presentation Awards Program provides financial assistance for graduate students to present their scholarship in a national or international forum and to enhance the student’s career opportunities. These are competitive awards; not all applicants may receive an award.

Eligibility: Any enrolled, degree-seeking, graduate student who is the first author on an abstract and presenting research conducted at The University of Tulsa during their graduate program may apply. Enrolled students entering works in juried exhibitions or presenting posters are also eligible for support. The applicant must be enrolled at the time of the presentation, with the exception of summer.

If your application does not meet the criteria mentioned, students can petition for an exception in writing to the Dean. Your advisor will need to submit a letter that addresses the extenuating circumstances. Application: Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, pending availability of funds within the Graduate School.

Students are encouraged to submit requests as early as possible, as funds may run out over the course of the year. All requests for travel support must be made using this form, which can be found at Graduate Financial Assistance Research Travel Grants .

In addition to this form, the applicant must include the following materials when submitting their application: A detailed budget that clearly lists each estimated cost associated with the presentation. Eligible expenses include airfare or mileage, hotel cost, food (a maximum of $37. 50 for first and last day, and $50 for other days), conference fees, and preparation costs for the presentation or poster.

A copy of the acceptance letter/email of the paper for the professional meeting Size of Grant and Reporting Requirements: A student may submit more than one application, but funding is limited to $1,000 for master’s students and $1,500 for doctoral students per fiscal year (July 1st thru June 30th). Expense reports and original receipts must be submitted within 30 days following travel. Receipts are required in order to be reimbursed.

Screenshots of banking applications might not be accepted by Accounts Payable. Requests for reimbursement submitted more than 30 days after travel may not be approved per university policy. A copy of the travel reimbursement form can be found on the Graduate School SharePoint site under the Form for Awards and Funding.
