Student Special Assistance Fund - Chicago Teachers Union Foundation Student Special Assistance Fund Student Special Assistance Fund The Children & Teachers Foundation of the CTU supports Chicago’s students, educators, and school communities through charitable activities, scholarships, grants, and professional learning.
The Student Special Assistance Fund (SSAF) was created over 50 years ago to address the immediate needs of students who attend Chicago’s public schools (CPS). Over 70 percent of CPS students are from low-income families, and tens of thousands of students attending CPS are homeless annually.
CTU delegates can identify students who require eyeglasses, hearing aids, school fees, clothing and emergency assistance and submit an application for resources on their behalf. Click here to download the SSAF application. The SSAF application process is open for the 2025-2026 school year.
