Suicide Prevention Fund is a grant from the NSW Government that funds non-government organizations and community-based services working to prevent suicide across New South Wales. Suicide Prevention Community Capacity Building Training Grants Now Open Community Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Training Grants are now open, supporting organisations across the Hunter, New England and Central Coast to strengthen their workforce capability to respond to suicidal distress in the community.

Delivered by Hunter New England Central Coast PHN, the grants form part of a broader commitment to community-led suicide prevention and capacity building, in line with priorities set by the NSW Ministry of Health. The grants are available to organisations, businesses and providers who service, support, or work with people at risk of, or experiencing, suicidal distress.

Funding supports access to nationally accredited suicide prevention training, with a focus on building staff and volunteer confidence, awareness and skills to identify concerns early, have safe conversations, and refer individuals to appropriate local, state or national supports. Eligible organisations may apply for between $10,000 (ex GST) and $25,000 (ex GST) to cover training and related activity costs.

Grant applications open on 2 February 2026 and close on 28 February 2026. The Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network has launched the Community Capacity Building Grants to support local organisations to identify and respond to people experiencing or at risk of suicidal distress. As long as your organisation operates within the Hunter New England or Central Coast region and supports or interacts with people experiencing or at risk of experiencing suicidal distress and you have an ABN, then you are/may be eligible to apply for this grant. What kind of training can be completed?

As long as the training is suicide prevention specific, accredited, and completed in Australia then it is covered by the grant. Suicide Prevention Australia has a list of accredited Suicide Prevention Training which covers a broad list of topics and this list can help you find cohort specific trainings.
