Summer Faculty Grants

Summer Faculty Grants is sponsored by Purdue University Fort Wayne. Grants for tenured and tenure-track faculty to support full-time scholarly work during the summer.

Grants and Funding | Purdue University Fort Wayne Research and sponsored programs Research at Purdue West Lafayette Research and Creative Activity Support Deadline: October 1, 2024, at 3 p. m. Funding: $8,000 paid as a taxable stipend The Office of Academic Affairs offers summer research grants for tenured and tenure-track faculty through two programs: Summer Faculty Grants and Senior Summer Faculty Grants.

To enable successful applicants to continue full-time scholarly work during the summer. Varies with program; please see the appropriate Call for Proposals for detailed information. Grant amount is $8,000, paid as a taxable stipend.

The grant period is 40 consecutive working days (eight weeks) between the end of the spring semester and the beginning of the fall semester. Teaching is not permitted during the grant period. The Call for Proposals for each program is available through InfoReady .

Deadline: 2025–26 internal faculty grants are not offered this year Applicants may request a copy of one or two previous Successful Summer Grants Available for Review (PDF) Current and Former Summer Faculty Grant recipients Grant-in-Aid of Research or Creative Activity Deadline: Currently closed To support faculty research and scholarship; to initiate new faculty research and creative activities; to supply modest support at unusually critical times.

All tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply. Only one application per faculty member per year. A faculty member may not have more than two awards in any four-year period.

Funding may be awarded up to $1,000. The applicant's department and/or school/college must provide an equal amount. Funds can be used for expenses not eligible for funding through other resources.

Funds may not be used for wages, salary, or conference attendance/participation. Travel requests of any nature are not accepted. Applications are closed for 2022-23.

Applicants must submit the following information: Description of the research How this award will facilitate the larger scope of the project Previous financial support (internal and external) for this project Description and estimated cost of activities for which this grant is being sought All applications must be submitted through InfoReady .

Faculty Community Engagement Grant Deadline: Currently closed Funding: $8,000 paid as a taxable stipend To support research by faculty members engaged in mutually beneficial partnerships with the community (broadly defined). All tenure-track and tenured faculty are eligible to apply, except faculty with 12-month appointments. Grant amount is $8,000, paid as a taxable stipend.

The grant period is the summer following award notification. Faculty cannot teach during the summer. Applications are closed for 2022-23.

Within two years of receiving the award, you must participate in a future Research and Sponsored Programs event and do at least one of the following and report doing so to the director of Research and Sponsored Programs: Submit an article to a Research and Sponsored Programs magazine or research journal Work with Research and Sponsored Programs to arrive at an agreed upon community engaged way of sharing the research proposed Collaborative Research Grant Deadline: February 5, 2025, at 3 p.

m. To facilitate NEW cross-disciplinary research collaborations on campus that lead to future external funding. All tenure-track and tenured faculty are eligible.

Recipients of past Collaborative grant funding are excluded from future competitions unless they have secured external funding. Grant amount is up to $15,000. The grant period is the Summer following the award notification.

Note: If academic year faculty request a salary stipend, they cannot teach during the Summer. Any budgeted salaries or stipends must be used in the Summer. However, funds can be budgeted for the academic year to cover project-related expenses (e.g., student workers, consultants).

The bulk of the faculty’s project must be conducted during the Summer. The Call for Proposals is available through the InfoReady portal. All applications must be submitted through InfoReady.

Please note that a letter of support from each collaborator’s department chair is required for the application. Also, please note that confirmation of completion of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training, both General and Field-Specific, is required.

Deadline: 2025–26 internal faculty grants are not offered this year Within two years of receiving the award, successful applicants must: Submit an article to a peer-reviewed journal on the research and report doing so to University Research and Innovation; and Present research findings to PFW stakeholders through an outlet or event approved by University Research and Innovation. Tenure-track faculty can apply for funding to travel to Purdue West Lafayette or Purdue Northwest to attend research training sessions or utilize equipment not available on the Fort Wayne campus through the Purdue West Lafayette Research Cores or PNW Research Centers . Outstanding Research Award The Outstanding Research award recipient must be a tenured full-time faculty member at Purdue University Fort Wayne.

There are no restrictions on the number of applications or nominations from any college, school, or department. The recipient will receive $2,500 and be honored at an on-campus reception following a presentation to the campus community. The call for nominations is available through InfoReady .
