This grantmaking pillar is our tribute to the brave men and women who have dedicated themselves to serving our nation, and an expression of our commitment to stand by them, both during and after their service. Our heroes need more support The percentage of veterans who report struggling with their mental health. The percentage of veterans who do not feel prepared to transition to civilian life after their service.

Through Supporting Our Heroes, Rancho Santa Fe Foundation brings like minded donors together to fund collaborative grants for nonprofits that are advancing critical work to support our military service members, veterans and their families.

The Supporting Our Heroes grant supports nonprofits that are: Assisting active-duty service members and their families to navigate the demands of military life. Contributing to education, housing, healthcare, and other essential services that promote the wellbeing and resilience of active military personnel and veterans alike.

Supporting veterans as they undergo the complex and often challenging transition to civilian life, including job training programs and placement services as well as mental health support. Eradicating veteran homelessness including assistance with housing, accessing veteran benefits, legal support, and homelessness prevention programs.

Since 2008, philanthropists in our community have been coming together to fund Supporting Our Heroes grants. About RSFF’s Supporting Our Heroes Grantmaking Pillar Supporting Our Heroes is Rancho Santa Fe Foundation’s original Impact Pillar, previously called The Patriots Connection. This pillar is rooted in deep respect and appreciation for the unwavering commitment of our San Diego military community.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by service members and their families, this pillar provides a wide variety of support tailored to the military community’s needs.

Through RSF Foundation's Collaborative Grantmaking Pillars, donors have the added benefit of knowing that each nonprofit has been thoroughly vetted through an application process that is reviewed not just by staff and the GPC committee, but also by an expert Grants Advisory Panel.
