Bursaries, scholarships and other sources of funding | Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) We strive to enable all qualified applicants to study on the Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment (SLBE) programmes and offer a range of merit and need-based scholarships and bursaries. To be considered, candidates must submit a bursary application form in addition to their programme application.

Please see below for details of the bursaries and scholarships available and the application method. Unless otherwise stated, applications can be made between September and April at the same time as programme applications are open. Applications must be made online using this application form .

Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment Access Bursary We strive to enable qualified applicants to study on the Postgraduate Certificate or Masters Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment and encourage all applicants with financial needs to consider applying for a bursary. Typically, bursaries range from 10 to 50 per cent of the combined graduate fee, based on need as detailed in the bursary application.

Applications are welcomed from any candidate, irrespective of gender, nationality, or geographical location. There are no restrictions on citizenship, country of residence or fee status. For more information about the eligibility criteria and application process, click here .

The SLBE Changemaker Scholarship One competitive scholarship is available for a Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment Master’s applicant who demonstrates personal academic and/or professional achievements in the built environment and an ambition to catalyse positive change in the industry. Applications are welcomed from high-achieving professionals in all areas of the built environment from anywhere in the world.

The scholarship is for £10,000. The scholarship will be applied as discount to the course fees: 50 per cent of the scholarship (£5,000) against the first-year fee and 50 per cent (£5,000) of the scholarship against the second-year fee. Pomeroy Academy Scholarship The Pomeroy Academy and the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership offer a scholarship for prospective students of the Master’s.

The Pomeroy Academy Scholarship for Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment serves to support one student per year from the countries in the Asia Pacific Region (East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australasia and Oceania) who can demonstrate their interest in, and commitment to, the design and development of sustainable built environments. The scholarship is for £8,000.

The scholarship will be applied as discount to the course fees: 50 per cent of the scholarship (£4,000) against the first-year fee and 50 per cent (£4,000) of the scholarship against the second-year fee. For more information about the eligibility criteria and application process, click here .

Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors Scholarship The Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors Scholarship is to support two SLBE Master’s students from anywhere in the world who can demonstrate their interest in, and commitment to, sustainability in the built environment. The scholarship is worth £5,000 for each academic year of the programme, worth £10,000 in total.

To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in the built environment. They must submit a full application to the Master’s either before, or alongside, their scholarship application. The scholarship will be awarded to the successful applicant once they have received an offer of admission to the SLBE Master’s and fulfilled any admission conditions set by the University.

For more information about the eligibility criteria and application process, click here . Many companies recognise the benefit of their employees participating in the SLBE programmes and, as such, support them by paying their course fees, either in full or in part.

When this is not possible, we would suggest exploring some of the funding options below: Residents of the UK or EU might be eligible for a Government loan scheme for part-time students studying for higher qualifications. The University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) lists a number of possible sources of funding for part-time study.

We have also have compiled a list of resources which might be helpful in identifying potential sources of funding. There is a website that provides access to general information on University-administered and external sources of funding and loans for postgraduate students, and includes a searchable database .

Much of this is geared towards full-time study and Master of Studies (part-time) students are not eligible to apply to the Cambridge Trusts, for example. Nevertheless, it may be worth checking if anything suitable is available, since the database is updated frequently. Please contact the team if you have further questions.
