Syracuse Cultural Festivals Fund | Downtown Committee of Syracuse Environmental Maintenance Marketing & Communications Event & Meeting Space Directory Partnership Opportunities Downtown Syracuse Foundation Event & Meeting Space Directory Partnership Opportunities Downtown Syracuse Foundation Syracuse Cultural Festivals Fund Syracuse, NY – $140,000 is now available through the Syracuse Cultural Festivals Fund which was established by the city of Syracuse in recognition that festivals and event programming contribute to a vibrant community.

Funds are intended to support non-profit community groups in delivering celebratory events centered on a specific theme that are free for the public to attend (no ticket purchase is required or involved), held in public spaces, and provide entertainment and/or activities for patrons.

Festivals that will be held between the September 2024 through September 2025 timeframe are eligible for consideration and applications may be submitted for grant amounts between $3,000 and $10,000 per festival.

Applications will be reviewed based on several factors including how the festival or event attracts visitors to public spaces, increases the community's awareness of cultural and artistic assets and builds appreciation for diverse cultures, traditions and art forms.

Additional consideration is given to events which create opportunities to celebrate the diverse fabric of our region and showcase the artistic opportunities found within our city. “Syracuse has always been a city that takes pride in our diversity. This commitment from us will hopefully be the beginning of a true investment in cultural awareness and celebration on an ongoing basis,” said Syracuse Common Councilor Jimmy Monto.

“Cultural festivals are a celebration of Syracuse’s rich diversity and great neighborhoods. They are unique events that improve quality of life and strengthen our local economy. They are a big part of what makes city living special,” said Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh.

“I appreciate the Common Council’s commitment to the Syracuse Cultural Festivals Fund and encourage eligible event organizers to submit applications for funding. ” Funds will be administered by the Downtown Syracuse Foundation, Inc. and are designed to reimburse organizers for eligible expenses associated with awarded festivals and events. Applications should be submitted at least two months prior to the event or program date.

Please note that any previously awarded Syracuse Cultural Festivals Fund grantees with events held in September 2024 are not eligible to apply for grant support for a September 2024 event. The first round of applications are due 11:59 pm on August 20, 2024. Additional rounds of funding will be made available based on fund availability.
