**At this time, the City Home Repair program will not be accepting new applications for the 2026 program year, and will not be opening applications during the normal May application period. **This decision does not come lightly, as we are committed to serving our constituents and Kansas City neighborhoods.

Due to the high volume of applications received during the 2025 program year, City Home Repair will continue working through an extensive waitlist and existing queue of eligible applicants. For those who received a letter of eligibility during the 2025 program year, but have not yet received home repair services, please feel free to contact City Home Repair at 816-513-3025 with any questions you may have.

Due to this delay, City Home Repair anticipates opening a**Cold Weather Application Campaign starting October 1, 2026. **This application period will focus on constituents in need of furnace replacements during the cold weather season. Please check our website throughout the upcoming months for updated information.

The City Home Repair program is not accepting new paint applications for the 2026 program year and will not open during the usual May application period. We invite you to continue to check our website or contact our office for updates. Paint applications from 2025 will continue to be processed by appointment only.

**Please read all the information below to confirm eligibility. ** The Targeted City Home Repair Program assists homeowners living in targeted areas as identified in the city’s Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan. The City’s Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan was created in accordance with requirements set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

HUD mandates that the State of Missouri submit a five-year Consolidated Plan, along with an annual Action Plan, detailing how federal housing funds will be allocated and managed. To learn more about these plans visit the City’s Housing Reports webpage.

These areas include the following neighborhoods: Eligible residents located in these areas will receive a choice of two repairs, subject to funding, as outlined below: * Plumbing – Main water lines, supply lines and water heater * Plumbing – Sewer mains and drain lines * Electrical Systems – Service entrance and main panel, including updating existing branch circuits * Roofs – Strip down and install new roofing materials * Furnaces – Complete replacement which may include ductwork Applicants must own and reside in the property to be repaired, may not own more than one residential property, could not have received home repair assistance from the city within the last five years, and must be within the 2025 HUD Income Guidelinesfor the KCMO metro area.

Program income-based eligibility is determined by combining household income with a small percentage of the value of assets in accordance with Chapter 5 of the HUD regulations. A listing of what is considered income and assets may be reviewed on the application.

The program does not service rental property, mobile homes, duplexes, etc. Funding for the City Home Repair Program comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant. Please note being eligible for the program does not guarantee service. Eligible applications may become ineligible if conditions of the home are determined to be beyond the scope of program parameters.
