Funding will support projects to clarify human relevance, define mechanism in Parkinson's-relevant contexts, establish target engagement or develop enabling tools and assays.
Target modulation in cell and animal models to determine efficacy on Parkinson's phenotypes Generate evidence linking target biology to Parkinson's patient samples Clarifying the therapeutic mechanism of action Identify and test biomarkers to aid preclinical therapeutic validation and patient stratification Biological safety through animal model characterization When considering proposals submitted to this program, MJFF prioritizes those that: Directly address known target gaps (e.g., human modulation, biomarker linkage, mechanism in alpha-synuclein biology and related Parkinson's pathology) Generate reproducible, translatable data that advances the target toward a therapeutic decision point MJFF will not consider proposals focused on the following: Broad discovery without a defined target/mechanism Therapeutic development programs not directly tied to target validation Learn more about the Targets to Therapies Initiative at https://www.

The Therapeutics Pipeline Program is a grant from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research that funds pre-clinical and clinical development of novel therapeutic approaches targeting the prevention, slowing, or symptomatic treatment of Parkinson's disease. Award amounts range from $250,000 for targeted projects to more than $2 million for multi-stage preclinical or clinical programs, with funding periods of 1 to 3 years. The program is open to industry partners and industry-academia collaborations worldwide. Pre-proposals can be submitted at any time and are reviewed within three weeks; invited applicants then submit full proposals through one of six annual review cycles, with the next full proposal deadline on June 25, 2026. MJFF prioritizes projects with strong biological rationale, differentiation from existing therapies, and clear translational biomarker strategies. Large-scale target identification screens and dietary supplement studies are not eligible.
