NASA Celebrates Informal Educators During Teacher Appreciation Week For some students, the concept of space exploration can feel light-years away. Fortunately, informal education institutions such as science museums, planetariums, libraries, and others help bring the excitement of spaceflight closer to home.
This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re highlighting the important role of informal education in inspiring students who may otherwise have few opportunities to engage with NASA STEM. NASA Selects 21 New Learning Projects to Engage Students in STEM NASA is awarding more than $3.
8 million to 21 museums, science centers, and other informal education institutions for projects designed to bring the excitement of space science to communities across the nation and broaden student participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
Bringing Women and Girls into STEM With NASA Opportunities NASA needs a diverse workforce to accomplish the nation’s ambitious goals of returning humans to the Moon through the Artemis missions, exploring deep space, and continuing to work at the forefront of science and technology.
Though NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM), the agency proactively engages groups who have historically had fewer opportunities to participate in STEM activities and are underrepresented in the current STEM workforce. In January 2026, DOE Policy Flash PF-2026-30 wiped out every 15% and 10% indirect cost cap the administration had imposed in 2025 — because H.R. 6938 ordered it to. The same law froze indirect policy at NSF, Commerce and NASA. But OMB's sweeping new grants rule quietly reopens the fight through the back door. Here is what changed, what money recipients can claw back, and how to protect your indirect recovery going forward.
Read articleThe NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program makes roughly $68 million available to fund the pipeline of STEM majors and professionals into K-12 classrooms in high-need districts, with awards up to $3.25 million and a full-proposal deadline on the last Tuesday of August 2026. For this cycle, NSF has waived the Track 2 and Track 3 cost-sharing requirement — a change that quietly removes the single biggest barrier for many applicant institutions. Here is how the four tracks work and how to build a competitive proposal.
