Tech-Moms Selected as Part of Microsoft's National TechSpark Fellowship Tech-Moms and Microsoft to work together to break down barriers for women to enter the tech industry Bountiful, UT – Tech-Moms announced this month that we will be working with Microsoft TechSpark to foster inclusive economic opportunity, job creation, and innovation throughout the state of Utah.
This program will allow Tech-Moms to open up new windows of opportunity for Utah women. Tech-Moms is a non-profit whose mission is helping women transition into the technology industry by providing technical training, career exploration and a long-term community of support.
This effort will be supported by a Microsoft grant to fund a TechSpark Community Engagement Fellow, who will spearhead local efforts, working with local partners to help women further their technical training and be ready to enter high demand fields in tech. This Fellowship represents the first time TechSpark has worked in Utah.
“We were thrilled to learn that we had been chosen for the Microsoft TechSpark Fellowship,” says Robbyn Scribner, Tech-Moms Co-Founder and TechSpark Fellow. “Our program has grown quickly over recent years, but support like this will make it possible for us to help remove some of the most critical barriers that are holding women back.
It is so rewarding to watch women literally transform their lives as they move forward into new careers. ” "Since we launched TechSpark in 2017, we’ve helped communities secure more than $125 million in funding and helped create thousands of jobs,” said Kate Behncken, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Philanthropies.
"By expanding TechSpark to all 50 states, we hope to continue our hyperlocal, partner-driven work to help communities realize the potential of technology and foster greater economic opportunity." The next cohorts of the Tech-Moms program will begin in September 2023 at three locations along the Wasatch Front.
