Funding Details: Texas Primary Prevention of Cancer - Rural Health Information Hub Texas Primary Prevention of Cancer Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas prevention@cprit. texas. gov The Texas Primary Prevention of Cancer Program will provide funding to implement evidence-based strategies to ensure that all Texans benefit from cancer prevention knowledge.
Projects will include interventions to reduce cancer risk, disease burden, and cancer disparities and address social determinants that contribute to cancer burden and disparities. Applications must include the delivery of interventions to non-metropolitan (rural) and/or medically underserved counties in the state.
The program is designed to to reduce risk behaviors through projects that will: Establish collaborations and partnerships with communities to deliver multilevel, evidence-based projects to reduce cancer incidence, mortality, and Deliver multilevel, evidence-based projects that include public and/or professional education, outreach, navigation to and delivery of primary prevention Implement policy, systems and environmental changes that are sustainable over time, for example: Delivering multicomponent healthy eating interventions combined with physical activity Implementing technology-supported multicomponent coaching or counseling interventions for obesity risk Supporting smoke-free policies in indoor spaces Implementing community-based interventions for vaccination that include client reminder systems and expanded access to vaccination services Eligible applicants are Texas-based entities, such as: Community-based organizations Public and private companies Colleges and universities Academic health institutions The maximum amount of total funding that applicants may request is dependent on the primary focus of the project and on the type of project: New project: $1,000,000 for a 3 year project period Initial expansion: $1,000,000 for a 3 year project Initial Expansion – vaccination/tobacco cessation (adults): $1,500,000 for a 3 year project period Maintenance expansion: $2,000,000 for a 5 year Maintenance Expansion – vaccination/tobacco cessation (adults): $2,500,000 for a 5 year project period program guidance and the online application portal are available on the program · Social determinants of health · Wellness, health promotion, and disease prevention For complete information about funding programs, including your application status, please contact funders directly.
