TGI RISE Application — The TransLatin@ Coalition Apply for the TGI RISE Program Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (TGI) people experience persistent disparities in health, housing, economic stability, and safety.
Data from the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Williams Institute show high rates of poverty, homelessness, poor health outcomes, unmet mental health needs, and food insecurity, while a 2024 report from the American Civil Liberties Union highlights disproportionate police contact and harassment.
In Los Angeles County, many TGI residents report avoiding services due to discrimination, lack of affirming providers, and limited culturally responsive care. In 2024, the LA County Board of Supervisors passed the TGI Wellness and Equity Initiative, allocating a 2-year investment of $7 million.
Strengthening investment in TGI-led organizations is critical to expanding access, improving service quality, and advancing health equity for TGI communities. Final selection of subcontractors is subject to approval by the LA County Department of Public Health.
