AFS - The Aid Fund for Syria AFS brings together Syrian and international partners with a collective mission to deliver humanitarian assistance while strengthening locally-driven resilience and recovery in Syria The estimated number of people assisted by AFS-funded projects The Aid Fund for Syria is a humanitarian multi-donor pooled fund championing locally-led system-strengthening and innovative solutions to address humanitarian needs.
As an enabler of the Humanitarian-Development-Peacebuilding (HDP) Nexus, it provides direct funding to local, national and international organisations across Syria in all humanitarian sectors. Donors contributing funds to AFS Total investment in the Fund AFS is governed by an independently chaired Steering Board composed of national and local NGOs, community-based organisations, and international donors.
Notably, Syrian organisations hold the majority share of seats - giving AFS one of the most locally driven governance structures among pooled funds globally. International NGOs participate in the board as observers. The Fund Management Agent is operated by Adam Smith International, a global advisory firm and registered B Corp specialising in international development.
