The Catholic Foundation Grants is sponsored by The Catholic Foundation. Grants to Catholic churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations supporting faith-based education and community initiatives that strengthen the faith life of students and teachers.

Updates to Grant Application Submission For more information on how to apply for a grant, please register for a grant workshop below. We strongly recommend attending a workshop even if you have attended in previous years. We have made changes to our grant application portal.

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible for a grant from The Catholic Foundation: The applicant must be tax-exempt under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The grant applicant must either be listed in the Official Catholic Directory of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe (“Directory”), or sponsored by a Catholic parish, school, or organization listed in the Directory.

The pastor, principal, or executive director of the sponsoring school, parish, or organization must endorse the grant application with a letter of recommendation stating the reasons for supporting the application. This letter must be included with the grant application. The Catholic Foundation will not accept applications for: Programs whose primary purpose is tuition support.

Capital expenditures consisting of land, buildings, or permanent fixtures, for which the total cost significantly exceeds the maximum grant amount. General support or operating expenses. Salary expense may be considered, provided it is directly related to the program and does not extend beyond the 12-month grant period.

A maximum of two grant requests from each organization, school, or parish are being accepted. Small Grants – Up to $10,000 Large Grants – $10,001 to $25,000 (Only Catholic organizations listed in the Official Directory of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe are eligible to be considered for large grants).

We highly recommend attending one of our Grant Writing Workshops , where you will learn how to create an account and navigate our application process, along with all the do’s and don’ts of applying online. The basics of writing a Catholic Foundation grant proposal will also be covered during these workshops. These workshops are free to anyone interested in writing a grant.

All new/first time grant applicants are required to attend. The link provided is for the large grant letter of intent and the small grant application. Once you set-up your account, you will receive a confirmation email and need to confirm receipt of that confirmation email.

Please take time to view it if you are new to the grant process at The Catholic Foundation, need to learn how to use our new online grant software or want a refresher course on grant writing and software navigation in our grant module. The Catholic Foundation’s Grant Committee will review and evaluate grant applications according to established guidelines, and will submit recommendations to the Board of Trustees.

Applicants who submitted a Large Grant Letter of Intent by the LOI deadline will be notified whether they are invited to submit a full application by the end of March. Both invited Large Grant applications and Small Grant applications submitted by the deadline in April will be reviewed and evaluated, and in some cases, additional information might be requested of the applicant.

All grant applicants will be notified of the final award decisions made by the Board of Trustees by the beginning of August. Successful applicants will be required to complete a contractual agreement before funds are disbursed in September. All grant recipients must report on the expenditure of grant funds and the outcomes of the funded programs.

Mid-year and final progress reports are required and are available on each grantee’s homepage in our grant module. Reminder notifications will be sent via email to the grant recipients in advance of the due dates. Failure to submit a required report will disqualify the grant recipient from further funding from the The Catholic Foundation.
