The Cruyff Athlete Fund is sponsored by Johan Cruyff Institute. The Cruyff Athlete Fund offers full and partial scholarships to professional minority sports athletes and those transitioning to sport management to study postgraduate and master's programs at Johan Cruyff Institute.

Our founder, Johan Cruyff, had a strong desire to enable athletes to develop their dual careers and make a successful transition from sport to the business world after their retirement from professional sport. He considered athletes to be the best people to lead sports organizations, as they understand the specifics of sport and thus defend the values of sport in business to the utmost.

At Johan Cruyff Institute we put our commitment to Johan’s belief and legacy into practice through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. An important pillar of our CSR program is The Cruyff Athlete Fund, enabling professional minority sports athletes, and those athletes about to make the transition to sport management, to study a number of postgraduate and master’s programs at Johan Cruyff Institute.

For each new course, the admissions committee of The Cruyff Athlete Fund selects several scholarship candidates who meet the defined admissions requirements, supporting them with up to 100% study grants, as per the Terms and Conditions of The Cruyff Athlete Fund call for applications.

Scholarship holders for the master degrees and full scholarship holders for the postgraduate diplomas will have to complete the payment of the registration fee of €150 (one hundred and fifty euros).

The Cruyff Athlete Fund consists of 14 full and partial scholarships that will be granted exclusively to study the September-October edition of the academic year 2026-2027 of the online programs offered by Johan Cruyff Institute specified below: Master in Sport Business - Specialization in Sport Management - English Máster en Sport Business - Mención en Gestión Deportiva - Spanish Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Management -English Posgrado en Gestión Deportiva – Spanish Master in Sport Business - Specialization in Sport Marketing and Sponsorship – English Máster en Sport Business - Mención en Marketing Deportivo y Patrocinio - Spanish Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Marketing - English Posgrado en Marketing Deportivo – Spansih Postgraduate Diploma in Football Business – English Posgrado en Negocios y Administración del Fútbol - Spanish Master in Football Business - English Máster en Administración y Dirección del Fútbol - Spanish The Jury will select the winners from the applicants, assessing the following conditions: Professional* athletes who play a minority sport.

* The “professional” nature of the athlete derives from the fact that he/she participates in official sports competitions of a professional nature and at state level, in accordance with the provisions of the Spanish Sports Law of 1990. Active professional athletes more than thirty (30) years of age, with international experience, who have an interest in furthering their education after their retirement from professional sport.

Professional athletes with special motivation to expand their education. The Jury will select the winners from the applicants, assessing the following conditions: Professional* athletes who play a minority sport.

* The “professional” nature of the athlete derives from the fact that he/she participates in official sports competitions of a professional nature and at state level, in accordance with the provisions of the Spanish Sports Law of 1990. Active professional athletes more than thirty (30) years of age, with international experience, who have an interest in furthering their education after their retirement from professional sport.

Professional athletes with special motivation to expand their education. open call: September 9th, 2025 --> The application period will end on May 15th, 2026. Scholarships will be granted exclusively to attend the September-October edition of the academic year 2026-2027 of the online programs offered by Johan Cruyff Institute specified above.

Winners will be announced on June 16th, 2026. Those athletes who wish to apply to one of the scholarships will have to follow the steps below: Write CV and motivation letter introducing yourself and stating your reasons for applying to the scholarship and explaining your experience as an athlete. Complete the application form specifying the online program you would like to study.

Have an online interview in which we will evaluate your candidacy (if you pass the initial selection process). Winners will be announced on 16/06/2026 .
