Following the launch of the Low Carbon Thermal Roadmap, Aii wishes to prioritize technology implementation that helps facilities reduce their thermal load and, eventually, electrify. Many of the technologies needed by 2030 to achieve the transition to electrification still require pilots and demonstration in order to achieve technical and commercial viability.

Therefore, we are prioritizing pilot- and demonstration-stage technologies that reduce thermal load or electrify processes and/or facilities for Climate Solutions Portfolio Grants. Our key funding thesis is to provide grants that: Advance the scaled application of solutions that reduce process demand for energy, electrify processing machines and electrify energy delivery to drive absolute CO2e reductions in wet processing facilities.

We define eligible solution types as: Reducing process demand for energy - a technology that reduces the amount of energy you need to deliver a process e.g. lower impact processing, waterless dyeing. These solutions can be implemented by factories seeking to prepare for electrification by reducing the amount of heat and steam the factory uses.

Electrifying processes - a solution that was previously powered by thermal energy is now powered by electricity. Examples include digital printing, electric singeing. These solutions can be implemented where factories will power them with green electricity.

Electrification of energy delivery - transitioning a facility fuel source from thermal to electrical energy through a heat pump, electric boiler or thermal storage, powered by 100% certified green electricity (ideally onsite generation and/or Corporate Power Purchase Agreement). There are two applications for this grant per year. In 2026, applications will be open from April 1 - May 15 and October 1 - November 13.

The application process will follow the steps and timeline outlined below. We will contact you if we need additional information or to confirm whether you have been invited to pitch. If you do not hear from us by the pitch month, your application has not been successful.

The data presented by a CSP Grant or Registry applicant will differ according to the solution’s maturity level. For Grant applications, where we accept less mature solutions, we are looking for a strong case to be made for the effectiveness of a solution. For a Registry application, we seek evidence that the solution delivers the expected effectiveness.

Below we have outlined the maturity definitions and how this relates to the data. Pre-seed: Solutions at a concept level and in the process of evaluating and establishing their impact potential. Pilot: Solutions testing to demonstrate a proof of concept. The impact figures on these solution pages are projections of the pilot's impact and do not yet reflect consistent performance. Model: Solutions working towards de-risking and reducing known barriers to scale.

Registry Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and you should hear back within 1-2 months of applying. If you have applied for a grant, you will receive an automatic email once you have applied on the review timelines. These can also be found in the application hub.
