The Food and Drink Fund

The Food and Drink Fund is sponsored by Suffolk Community Foundation (via fundsforNGOs). Supports organizations in Suffolk that are working to improve nutrition, reduce food insecurity, and promote healthier eating habits.

The Food & Drink Fund details - Suffolk Community Foundation Established in 2005, Suffolk Community Foundation is a registered charity and part of a national family of 47 community foundations across the UK. We work closely with key stakeholders to increase understanding of need and raise essential funds to support local charities and community groups.

By giving to Suffolk Community Foundation, you will ensure that small charities working throughout the county receive the much-needed funding they rely on, to enable them to continue their essential work for the most vulnerable in our communities. Suffolk Community Foundation manages 136 grant making funds and, last year, awarded £3. 8 million in funding (excluding the Sizewell C Community Fund).

Grant size ranges from £500 to £40,000 or above, sometimes over multiple years. The average amount awarded was £4,546. It contested popular notions that deprivation and disadvantage were problems of inner city areas and large housing estates. As a large rural county, food, drink and agriculture are important to Suffolk, with agriculture employing over 10,000 people, and food and drink processing employing a further 9,000 people. Further potential for growth is being driven by national demand for high-quality, locally sourced food and drink.

With a number of themed funds already an integral part of the Foundation’s grantmaking capabilities, the Food and Drink Fund plays a vital role in helping to address local needs throughout Suffolk. Leaders from Suffolk’s food and drink industry have lent their support to building a special food and drink themed fund that will be distributed to charities and community groups relating to nutritional deprivation.

The aim of the fund is to support charitable activities addressing local needs in Suffolk where there is a direct link with food and drink. Charities and voluntary groups can benefit from grants of between £1,000 and £5,000.
