The Green Fund Africa | African Youth Climate Grants by TGF Supporting young climate leaders in sub-Saharan Africa by providing micro-grants and resources to empower community-driven solutions for climate resilience and sustainability.

Empowering African Youth for a Sustainable Future Investing in the next generation of climate leaders Africa’s youth are leading the charge in climate action, developing innovative, community-driven solutions in some of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions. The Green Fund believes in their power to create lasting change —and we’re here to support them.

Over the past two years, we’ve provided micro-grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 to help young African leaders launch and scale sustainability initiatives. From renewable energy projects and climate education programs to reforestation and water conservation efforts , these grants are driving real impact on the ground. But we’re not stopping there.

We’re expanding our commitment to Africa —building deeper partnerships, increasing funding, and amplifying the work of young climate champions across the continent. Building Our Presence: The Launch of Green Fund Africa To deepen our impact, we launched Green Fund Africa (Universités Historiquement Noires Fonds Vert) in Senegal on August 23, 2023 .

Our headquarters in Yene, Senegal , near Blaise Diagne International Airport, serves as a hub for climate action, leadership training, and global collaboration. Leading the initiative is Cheikhou Thiome , a COP6 youth delegate with 20+ years of experience in environmental justice and youth empowerment. Under his leadership, we’re mobilizing resources, expertise, and funding to fuel the next generation of African climate leaders.

Solve & Flourish Africa (SOLFA), with Green Fund investment, empowers vulnerable communities through agroecology, eco-literacy, and sustainable livelihoods —fostering food security, resilience, and climate-smart innovation in Uganda. Zambia empowers young climate champions through reforestation, renewable energy education, and grassroots advocacy in underserved communities.

Ghana’s Green Fund initiatives—led by the Center for Climate and Sustainability Empowerment— empower youth and women to tackle climate change through education, innovation accelerators, and green livelihood training .

The Green Fund Sierra Leone Discover how Keep Africa Beautiful Sierra Leone, supported by the Green Fund, is advancing climate education and equity through a pioneering eco-school and youth empowerment programs in Bo District. Senegal is the headquarters of Green Fund Africa and a hub for community-led innovation , youth tech education , clean energy , and women-led recycling projects .

The Green Fund is empowering young climate leaders in Cameroon through climate resilience training , plastic waste reduction , and environmental justice initiatives . Our programs equip communities with the tools to combat climate change. With investment from the Green Fund, Liberia’s Climate Activist Association is advancing food security and climate education through youth-led agriculture and school-based sustainability initiatives .

The Green Fund Africa is an investment partner for Emerald Climate Hub , a youth-led nonprofit organization in Zimbabwe advancing gender-inclusive climate leadership and clean energy access through innovative biogas and education initiatives.

Kenya’s Udgoon Sustainable Development Initiative—supported by the Green Fund—is advancing climate resilience through school-based weather monitoring , water resource innovation, and vocational training in Garissa Township. The Green Fund Burkina Faso Burkina Faso’s Green Fund programs support the Cop Sahel initiative, advancing education, reforestation, and grassroots advocacy to build climate resilience and regional cooperation .
