The Harlan Hahn Fund: Disability Studies Project Proposals The Harlan Hahn Fund 2025 Call for Disability Studies Project Proposals The Harlan Hahn Fund call for proposals is now open for 2025. Students, faculty, and staff from all three University of Washington campuses are invited to submit a grant proposal.
Applications must describe research, writing, or activist projects framed within, aligned with, or informed by the academic field of Disability Studies. Harlan Hahn awards typically range between $500 and $5,000. The number and amount of the grants awarded depend on the quality of the individual projects and the overall number of eligible proposals received.
Support of academic research projects, pedagogical research, or writing projects in Disability Studies or informed by Disability Studies. Travel to conferences in the field of Disability Studies or related to Disability Studies to present research or to participate in the Disability Studies academic community. Support for disability-related activist endeavors (e.g., web development, meeting support) aligned with Disability Studies.
Payment for guest speakers for Disability Studies events. Applications are due April 14, 2025, by 11:59 pm. Grants may commence on July 1, 2025.
All grant-funded activities must be completed by June 30, 2026. All allocated funds to be used during the grant-funded period between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026 UW faculty and staff grant recipients must be employed by UW during the award cycle. Student grant recipients must be enrolled at UW during the award cycle.
