About our Grantmaking – Humboldt Area Foundation Catalyst Grants are meant to be responsive to community needs that would not otherwise be fulfilled by a traditional grant. Requests should be under $10,000 and have a clear start and end date. Examples of projects that will be funded include gap funding, funding for a specific event, or other projects that will be completed within 6-12 months.
The Klamath River Fund is a new program of Humboldt Area Foundation + Wild Rivers Community Foundation (HAF+WRCF), focused on community-led climate resilience and restorative justice work. Following the unprecedented dam removal in 2023 and 2024, the Klamath River Fund will invest in and amplify restoration and revitalization efforts in the entire Klamath River Basin in the decade that follows.
Community Impact grants are for requests of $10,000 and above. Our current average funding amount is $50,000. Grant applications are welcomed in the spring and fall.

Klamath River Fund Grants is a grant program from Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation (HAF+WRCF) that funds charitable programs and projects serving Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties in California, and Curry County, Oregon. HAF+WRCF's funding priorities include racial equity, just economic development, healthy ecosystems and environments, and thriving youth and families. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, public benefit organizations, churches, educational institutions, hospitals, government units, tribal governments, and groups working with a qualified fiscal sponsor. Individual support is available through a limited number of funds. The program aims to minimize vulnerability and increase equity to strengthen institutions, providers, and leaders across rural and Native lands.
Summer Youth Program (Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation) is sponsored by Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation (HAF+WRCF). This program provides micro-grants to charitable organizations and projects offering youth opportunities for quality artistic and educational activities, outdoor and recreation programs, and scholarships for low-income youth in Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and Curry counties.
