Workforce Projects | The Manufacturing Institute The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with employers, educators and communities across the nation to implement solutions to build a skilled manufacturing talent pipeline.
On July 22, 2021, the Economic Development Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce announced $3 billion through a series of competitions to support economic and workforce development programs in regions across the country.
The MI is supporting selected regions to apply for Good Jobs Challenge funding through a series of facilitated workshops, topical discussions and expert mentorship scheduled from mid-September through mid-December 2021 to align with the application deadline of Jan. 26, 2022.
Partnering with Stand Together, and with a grant from the Charles Koch Institute, the Manufacturing Institute is enabling industry to grow the modern manufacturing workforce while closing the opportunity gap. Through roundtable discussions, webinars, C-suite leadership events, case studies and research, the Manufacturing Institute is helping manufacturers navigate second chance hiring and best practices.
The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with the University of Louisville on the Modern Apprenticeship Pathways to Success (MAPS) project. MAPS is funded through a US Department of Labor grant and will focus on advancing regional economic wellbeing through apprenticeship development and expansion in three, critical H-1B industries: advanced manufacturing, healthcare and information technology.
The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with the Ohio Manufacturer’s Association and Lorain Community College on a $12 million U.S. Department of Labor Scaling Apprenticeship grant. The goal of the grant is to increase earn-and learn programs through an innovative sector partnership model in Ohio.
The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with the Alabama Community College System on a $12 million US Department of Labor Scaling Apprenticeship grant. The goal of the grant is to scale FAME as an earn-and-learn program and a new ALAMAPS pre-apprenticeship model across the state of Alabama.
The Manufacturing Institute has partnered with 3M and 3Mgives to provide consultation on the 3M’s Manufacturing and Academic Partnership (MAP) program, which changes the perception of manufacturing to high school students while training students in manufacturing skills.
