"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give . ” The McCrory Foundation supports charitable causes in areas of human service, health, youth development, and education. The foundation’s giving is limited to the geographical concentration of Carter County, Oklahoma by James Lyndall McCrory, a successful cattle rancher, from Milo, Oklahoma.
The foundation was named in part to honor his father, Robert Fulton McCrory, and his mother, Montie Ray McCrory, who settled 15 miles west of Springer, Oklahoma before statehood and established an 8,000-acre cattle ranch, known as R. F. McCrory Ranch, and later an oil and gas business, known as R.
F. McCrory and Son. Since then, the McCrory Foundation has awarded over $17.
6 million in grant funding. The McCrory Foundation prioritizes human services and health, youth development, and education causes. The Foundation may make grants to school districts, colleges, hospitals, libraries, and municipalities on a limited basis.
Grants to churches (and other religious institutions) may be made only if designated for a specific purpose to be performed in Carter County that benefits the general public. It is important to the McCrory Foundation Board of Directors and staff that the office be accessible to those performing charitable work in our Carter County, Oklahoma community.
