The New York Women's Foundation Grants

The New York Women's Foundation Grants is sponsored by The New York Women's Foundation. The New York Women's Foundation provides funds to organizations and programs within the five boroughs of New York City that have community-led solutions to propel all women, girls, and gender non-conforming individuals living at or below the poverty level towards long-term economic security.

The Foundation considers requests from organizations and programs that impact women's lives in one or more of the following focus areas: Economic Justice, Anti-Violence and Safety, and Health, Sexual Rights and Reproductive Justice.

Grantmaking - The New York Women's Foundation WE FUND EARLY, STRATEGICALLY AND SUSTAINABLY We help social entrepreneurs and changemakers hit the ground running. Often the first investors in our grantees, we provide them leverage that attracts support from their community.

By investing at the initial stages, we throw our credibility, resources, and time behind our grantees to dream bigger — and help build a track record that inspires other funders to invest with us. PARTICIPATORY GRANTMAKING INVESTING IN THE COMMUNITY, AND WITH THEM Pioneering trust-based grantmaking back in the 1980s, The Foundation has always been a changemaker in the world of philanthropy.

Led by our core belief that those who have lived experience of a problem are best placed to solve it, we believe it is critical for community partners to have a seat at the grantmaking table. At its core, our grantmaking approach gives decision-making power about grants to the very people impacted by funding decisions. Rooted in gender, racial, and economic rights.

Based on trust. Guided by women and gender-expansive people. Over 95% of our grants support organizations serving low- to moderate-income families and communities facing gender, economic, and racial challenges.

Bring together community members, philanthropists, volunteers, and advocates to engage in a transparent decision-making process that responds to community needs. While we prioritize New York City, our grants support work at the state and national level that impacts the five boroughs and beyond. The Foundation has a history of identifying, funding and supporting emerging leaders and organizations for sustained success.
