The Open Hand Fund

The Open Hand Fund is sponsored by Lakeshore Community Foundation Inc.. The Open Hand Fund aims to support human needs organizations and those with Protestant and Evangelical affiliations in Manitowoc County.

Apply for a Grant – Lakeshore Community Foundation, Inc. NOTE: All grant opportunities from these client funds are currently closed. Each client fund within the Foundation has its own identity and charitable purpose. As such, most of the Foundation’s clients direct the distributions from their funds to charitable organizations that have special meaning to them.

However, some clients establish funds that make distributions through a discretionary granting process based on criteria they establish themselves. The client funds listed below fall into this category.

If your organization is a qualified charitable organization, as defined by the IRS, you may apply for a grant from any of the funds listed below, between February 1 and March 15 each year, if your organization’s funding request aligns with the purpose of any of these funds. These client funds are the only funds to which you may apply for a grant. One grant is typically awarded from each fund annually.

To apply for any of these grants, click Grant Application. Upon receipt of your application, the Foundation’s staff will verify that it is complete and that your organization qualifies under the Foundation’s due diligence requirements. The Foundation’s Grants committee will review and evaluate the grant applications and then recommend a recipient to the Foundation’s Board of Directors for approval.

Grant decisions will be communicated to you approximately six weeks after the application due date. If your organization is awarded a grant, you may be required to accept the terms and conditions of the grant in writing before the check is issued.

The Foundation may request information from you regarding the use of the grant, and it may conduct site visits and/or interviews with staff, board members, collaborative partners and other funders. * Grant amounts vary from year to year, and the amounts are disclosed annually on this page by February 1. Friedland Fund for Children in Manitowoc County Purpose: To support, encourage, and promote programming and opportunities for positive growth for low income and disadvantaged children in Manitowoc County. Lakeshore Protecting Animal Welfare Fund Purpose: To promote health and welfare of com panion animals in Calumet, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan Counties.

Purpose: To support human needs organizations as well as organizations with Protestant and Evangelical affiliations located in Manitowoc County. Raleigh and Agnes Sorge Charitable Fund Purpose: To promote the work of organizations that address human needs in Manitowoc County. Purpose: To promote the work of qualified charitable organizations in Manitowoc County.

Purpose: To promote the work of qualified charitable organizations in Manitowoc County within any of the following areas of interest: Conservation: land, wildlife, environment, education. Youth development, including development for youth with disabilities.

The Natural Wonder Fund of Sheboygan County Purpose: To promote non-motorized, non-competitive outdoor projects and efforts that facilitate and encourage meaningful encounters with Sheboygan County’s natural resources by making such experiences more accessible, appealing, and sustainable.
