The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award is sponsored by The Samuel Huntington Fund. The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides a $15,000 stipend for a graduating college senior to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world.

The award allows recipients to engage in a meaningful public service activity for one year before proceeding on to graduate school or a career. Projects that have the potential to be sustainable are favored, and therefore many of the projects initiated by past award recipients continue to benefit people today.

First presented in 1989, the award has provided 98 outstanding young people the opportunity to bring their extraordinary spirit of public service to reality. Recipients of the award include a McArthur "Genius", a U.S. Surgeon General, a Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree, a Queen of England Young Leader, one of the BBC's 100 Most Influential Women of 2018, and a member of the Washington Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2021 .
