This program offers a limited number of grants to fund clinical, educational, and therapy programs for children and young adults in New England with genetic disorders, rare diseases, and intellectual and physical disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Sponsor a Child or Program Grant Proposal Guidelines The Genesis Foundation for Children is pleased to offer a limited number of grants to fund clinical, educational, and therapy programs for children and young adults in New England with genetic disorders, rare diseases, and intellectual and physical disabilities. The Genesis Foundation for Children is NOT currently accepting grant applications.

Please refer to the following schedule for submission deadlines: 2027 GRANT APPLICATION SCHEDULE Grant Applications for 2027 open on June 1, 2026. Grant applications/proposals must be submitted by 11:59PM on September 1, 2026. Funding decision notifications will be delivered by December 15, 2026.

The Genesis Foundation for Children does not accept any grant proposals from therapeutic programs located outside of the six New England states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Meet Some Of Our Grantees The therapeutic programs we fund allow children and young adults with complex medical needs the opportunity to participate in various arts and recreational programs.

These programs not only have a tremendous impact on the child’s mental and physical development, there are other therapeutic benefits that include improving their self-confidence and social skills.

Bournedale Elementary School’s Integrated Preschool Bournedale Elementary Integrated Preschool’s Music Therapy program creates an inclusive classroom for preschoolers ages 3-5, with diagnoses such as autism, cerebral palsy, and emotional difficulties.

The program focuses on improving verbal response, language development, social interaction skills, and academic development through dance and movement activities, singing, repetition, and rhyming. Bournedale Elementary has been a grantee of The Genesis Foundation since 2019, and the Foundation is currently the sole funder of the entire program.

Special Education and Therapeutic Services Founded in 1970, Latham Centers provides residential care, education, and treatment for children ages 8–22, and adults 22 and over. Latham Centers serves individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, providing individualized support and care.

For children with intellectual disabilities, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other rare diseases, Latham School provides a safe, healing environment, a vibrant atmosphere, and a dedicated staff. The Children’s Program provides supervision, therapy, special education services, and vocational opportunities. Latham School focuses on highly individualized treatment that supports both the student and the family.

In addition to their special education teachers, vocational staff, and direct support professionals, Latham Centers’ team includes nurses, clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists, and a child & adolescent psychiatrist. Their integrated services include individual and group counseling, family casework, art, and recreation therapy.

For over 40 years, Ironstone Farm has been helping children and adults find hope and healing through equine-assisted therapies. Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) for youth is a therapeutic approach that uses interactions with horses to promote emotional and behavioral growth.

Ironstone Farm serves people with a wide range of disabilities and challenges, uniting a diverse population in an environment that encourages joy, well-being, and improved quality of life. The power of these equine-assisted services are transformative, improving the lives of children and adults with a wide variety of conditions, including physical disablities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, PTSD, and cancer.

Riding a horse simulates people’s natural walking movements, encouraging strengthened trunk control, improved balance and coordination, normalized muscle tone and increased stamina. Connecting Pieces is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving as a beacon of support and resources for individuals and families impacted by Gastrointestinal Disorders (GI), Ostomies, and associated challenges.

Connecting Pieces prioritizes mental health and holistic well-being, striving to empower every individual to navigate their journey with resilience and hope. The Healing Arts program offers therapeutic creative wellness workshops that foster emotional healing, build confidence, and reduce isolation for patients and caregivers living with chronic illness, ostomies, and disabilities.

Each month, credentialed art therapists guide participants through painting, music, writing, and mixed media as tools for stress relief, trauma processing, and resilience. Sessions are delivered virtually to ensure access for underserved and medically fragile communities.

Gnome Surf’s therapeutic surf programs for youth of all abilities are dynamic, evidence-informed interventions that use surfing and the transformative power of the ocean as tools for healing, belonging, and empowerment. Surf therapy supports emotional regulation, social connection, and physical development, especially for youth with complex medical conditions, traumatic injuries, and other disabilities.

Gnome Surf’s Adaptive Surf Therapy Programs provide one-on-one, trauma-informed surf therapy sessions to youth ages 3–22 with neurodivergence, physical disabilities, rare genetic disorders, and complex medical needs, as well as their siblings and caretakers. Gnome Surf’s programs are built around radical inclusion and individualized care.

Their Adaptive Surf Therapy Program provides equitable access to healing, joy, and empowerment for youth and families navigating high physical and emotional support needs.
