Therapy Fund — Healing in the Margins For individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC, and are seeking scholarship to supplement or cover the cost of mental health therapy. To qualify you must meet the criteria above in addition to the following : reside in Tennessee and see a Tennessee therapist (or reside in Tennessee and are seeking care with a TN therapist) Email List for Quarter 3 is now open.
Applications will be sent July 6th to folks on the email list. Add name to email list for Quarter 1, 2026. Individuals on Quarter 1 email list receive direct link to the application.
Folks on this list have 1 week to complete application. Quarter 1 applicants are notified of funding status. If enrolled in the Therapy Fund, you have 1 year to utilize your 12 sessions.
Funds are available immediately. We will not be enrolling new Therapy Fund participants during Quarter 2, 2026. Individuals on Quarter 3 email list receive direct link to the application.

You must identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) and/or LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender, Intersex, or Asexual) You must reside in the State of Tennessee You must currently see a mental health provider in the State of Tennessee or be looking for a provider in the State of Tennessee.
*We can not provide therapy funds to individuals who are outside of Tennessee or individuals who see a therapist in a different state / country. What happens when I add my name to the email list? Your name and email will be added to the list of individuals who receive a direct link to the application during the next application period.
Upcoming application period is noted above. Your name and email must be on the list in order to receive the application at the beginning of the next funding quarter. How long will it take to find out my application status once I submit the application?
Once the application is sent out, you have one week to complete the application When the application period closes, individuals are notified within 1-2 weeks of our ability to provide Therapy Funds or not. You will receive a specific date of notification when the application email is sent out. How do you determine who receives funding?
You must meet all eligibility requirements If we don’t have the funding capacity to enroll every eligible applicant in a given quarter, priority is given to applicants with the greatest financial need, urgency of care needed, lack of current access to mental health care, and those who have not previously received Healing in the Margins Therapy Funds.
Can I apply to the Therapy Fund if I have received funding from Healing in the Margins before? Yes. You are eligible to reapply to the Therapy Fund one year after your previous enrollment month.
For example, if you applied and received funding in April 2023, you are eligible to reapply in April 2024 application period. *Note: Being enrolled in the Therapy Fund a previous year does not guarantee funding a second time, but we do our best each quarter to fund as many applications as possible! How many sessions do I receive if I am enrolled?
Every person who is enrolled receives 12 sessions . Depending on the cost of your sessions and our funding capacity, we can provide up to $120 / session. Funding amount varies per individual.
Do you send Therapy Funds to me or my therapist? If you are enrolled in the Therapy Fund, you and your therapist will receive a fact sheet with instructions on how to send therapy invoices to Healing in the Margins. When your therapist sends an invoice to Healing in the Margins, they will receive payment for that session directly.
