K. Maxx and Homesense Foundation in Europe. Grants for K-12 Education TJX’s K-12 grants focus on out-of-school learning and enrichment opportunities for vulnerable children and teens, typically in grades K-12.

TJX has supported Save the Children U.S.’s 100 Days of Reading Campaign. The foundation has also provided ongoing support to national organizations including the Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and After School All-Stars for their after-school and summer learning programs.

TJX has also run a signature program, the Youth Business Institute, to provide 11-week professional development and job skills programs for underserved teens and young adults in select locations across the U.S. Grants for Food Security, Human Services, Housing and Homelessness The foundation’s basic needs giving area is broad and tends to award grants to large organizations working to eliminate hunger and provide basic needs to vulnerable people.

The foundation provides ongoing support to Feeding America. Other food security grantees include the Greater Boston Food Bank and Community Servings of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Additional human services grants have gone to Boston’s Home for Little Wanderers, the Housewares Charity Foundation of Illinois and Operation Warm in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.

Grants for Violence Prevention, Women and Girls TJX articulates a strong commitment to supporting “safety from relationship abuse” for victims of domestic violence. Its main grantee in this area is the the National Domestic Violence Hotline. The TJX Foundation awarded over $23 million in grants in a recent year, representing a significant increase over past years’ giving.

TJX awards large grants of $1 million or more to national organizations. Its smaller grants target local organizations in areas where the parent company operates, especially the greater Boston area.
