Technology Mission Programme on Water and Clean Energy | Department Of Science & Technology Innovation and Technology Development Programmes >> Technology Mission Programme on Water and Clean Energy >> Technology Mission Programme on Water and Clean Energy Vision Ensuring water and energy security through transformative Science & Technology breakthroughs.
Mission Creating and nurturing robust, agile, participative and forward looking science, technology and innovation eco-system to address prevalent and emerging water and energy challenges and tap global opportunities. Goal Development of basket of technically feasible, socially acceptable, environmentally sound and economically viable innovative solutions suited to different spectrum of users in diverse socio-economic contexts.
Scope Covers the entire value chain of R&D right from oriented basic and applied research, pre competitive technology development, technology based classification & assessment of technology options, pilot-demonstration of technology leads from laboratories and academic institutions to evolve a basket of technology options and facilitating developed technologies for last mile connectivity etc. It also envisages nurturing enabling activities such as human and institutional capacity building including fellowships, training of human resources, promoting centres of excellence, thematic hubs and technology platforms.
Objectives We nurture Science & Technology led breakthroughs and best practices to cater to larger objective of providing affordable and accessible solutions for societal benefit.
The aim is to progressively advance technology readiness level of research and innovation endeavours with the following broad objectives: Promoting Cutting Edge Research, Development and Demonstration ( RD&D) Support research to generate advanced knowledge of potential application, catalyse technology development and pilot demonstration at credible scale enrolling community and stakeholders Forge and Sustain Partnerships Promote national, bilateral and multilateral collaboration between industry, academics, utilities and other stakeholders to gain value for such connections Create research competence in Clean Energy and water through human and institutional capacity development Accelerate India centric innovations developed around user needs Programme Implementation The implementation steps include pro-active identification of challenges, articulating them into prospective research problems/ topics/ targets for formulation of thematic proposals and design of activities through stakeholders’ consultation.
Coordinated effort through strong linkage with line ministries and leveraging collaboration through creation of knowledge networks to tap the country’s scientific strengths and linking global expertise are essential elements of this approach.

The priorities and commitments of the advertised call are articulated in the Call for Proposals on DST website. The format and call guidelines detailing eligibility conditions, criteria for evaluation and evaluation procedure are part of call document .
Next phase of exceptionally well performing ongoing projects supported earlier , which is essential for further progression to next stage of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of the project are considered beyond the call domain.
Such proposers need to apply for next phase at least 6 months before the project completion date in the applicable format clearly linking outcomes of previous phase and how it is proposed to be taken forward with appropriate participation role of stakeholders considering the envisaged Technology Readiness Level (TRL).
