Trade Adjustment Assistance | Iowa Workforce Development Trade Adjustment Assistance Programs that Help Workers The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program is a Federal program created from the Trade Act of 1974, as amended. The TAA program provides re-employment assistance to workers who have experienced a layoff as a result of foreign trade.
Services for Those Who Qualify May Include: Up to 130 weeks of approved TAA training, including all tuition, fees, and books. Income support while in training through the Trade Readjustment Allowance (TRA) benefit. Work-based training, including on-the-job training and registered apprenticeships.
Wage subsidies for workers 50 years or older. (Who earn less than $50,000 per year in qualifying reemployment.) Job search allowances for travel, lodging and meals while traveling to interviews outside of commuting area.
Relocation allowances for workers who accept a new position outside of their commuting area. Individuals who were part of a layoff are eligible. The United States Department of Labor must certify the layoff as foreign-trade-related.
Iowa Workforce Development and the Trade Department will notify individuals of their eligibility. Register on IowaWORKS. gov to have access to all our online services.
