Federal Funding for Energy-Efficient Transportation · Joint Office of Energy and Transportation Federal Funding for Energy-Efficient Transportation The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office) supports research, development, and deployment to scale and expand transportation and energy infrastructure to increase American innovation and choice in how people and goods move.

EV charging infrastructure: Supports the convenient, reliable, and secure EV charging network. Managed charging and vehicle-to-grid technologies: Aims to maximize the benefits of EVs on the grid and advance cost efficiency and effective use of energy in transportation. Community and urban mobility: Furthers transportation infrastructure and business models in urban use cases like multifamily residences and multimodal mobility.

School bus and public transit: Supports school districts and transit agencies in their transition to more reliable and safe buses. Utility and grid energization: Enables utility distribution strategies to efficiently manage EV interconnection at scale. Fleet vehicle and infrastructure: Aims to advance vehicle technology and infrastructure and expand supply chain resilience.

Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program EV charging infrastructure Managed by FHWA and supported by the Joint Office, this program provides funding to make infrastructure available to all drivers of electric, hydrogen, propane, and natural gas vehicles.

Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator Program EV charging infrastructure This program, managed by FHWA and supported by the Joint Office, provides funding to repair or replace broken or non-operational electric vehicle charging ports to improve the reliability of existing charging infrastructure.

i2X Innovative Queue Management Solutions for Energy Interconnection and Energization Utility and grid energization Through a partnership intermediary agreement with ENERGYWERX, this program will award $11. 2 million to no more than 25 distribution utilities to pilot innovative solutions for managing renewable energy and EV charging interconnection and energization queues.

Low or No Emission Grant Program Alternative fuel school bus and public transit vehicles Administered by the Federal Transit Administration with support from the Joint Office, the Low or No Emission competitive program provides funding to state and local government authorities to purchase or lease alternative fuel transit buses and supporting infrastructure.

SuperTruck Charge Funding Opportunity Announcement Fleet vehicle and infrastructure; managed charging and related technologies Led by the U.S. Department of Energy Vehicle Technologies Office, this funding program aims to advance replicable solutions to support electrified medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, accelerate charging infrastructure deployment, and reduce grid impacts through vehicle-grid integration strategies.
