#### `⚠️ Applications for this component are currently suspended` The international humanitarian organization **Mercy Corps**, with the assistance of **the Howard G. Buffett Foundation**, is **expanding the Ukraine Agricultural Support Program** (UASP) to facilitate the recovery and increase the operational capabilities of agricultural sector providers affected by the armed conflict.
UASP will consider applications from the agricultural service providers operating in **Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Cherkasy, Odesa and Kyiv oblasts** (except for areas where active hostilities are ongoing, as well as areas with limited access or high risk to life and business activities).
More specifically, the support to the agricultural service providers will be considered in the areas with a reduced risk of secondary damage. Mercy Corps proposes providing material support to local agricultural service providers in the target oblasts that work with household-level subsistence farmers, small farming businesses, and medium-sized farming enterprises.
Mercy Corps will establish a fund and solicit applications for requests from government, private and non-profit service providers, such as: Soil testing and research institutes. Food safety and quality laboratories. Veterinary and artificial insemination service providers.
Agriculture extension service outlets. Institutions of agricultural education that are related with support to farmers. Crop protection and improvement institutions.
Irrigation and water management associations. Other similar institutions. The types of requests may include repairing damaged facilities, replacing destroyed equipment, and updating or procuring new equipment.
Mercy Corps implements a competitive process, assessing criteria, such as: The relevance of the service. Physical impact such as destruction of equipment or premises. How many farmers could be reached.
Inability to restore or expand service provision to farmers without grant support. Mercy Corps investments will aim to: Restore local farmers' access to agricultural services stopped due to the armed conflict. Improve the quality of services provided.
Increase outreach to a higher number of farmers. Introduce new types of agricultural services in line with market demand. Applications will be also evaluated on the security risks identified by Mercy Corps.
The average amount of financial assistance is **USD 150,000 in UAH** equivalent at the current exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). The amount of assistance provided may be more or less, depending on the needs of institutions and specifics of each project.
