UpSkill Miami | Training, Support & Employment Opportunities UpSkill Miami has emerged as Miami-Dade County’s leader in forward-thinking workforce solutions. Through United Way Miami’s innovative training-to-employment pipeline, the initiative upskills and reskills the local workforce by providing access to training, support and career pathways in high-need industries.

In just two years since its relaunch, UpSkill Miami has redefined workforce readiness. By bringing together the private and public sectors, we are harnessing the power of partnerships to help underserved individuals find gainful employment and drive the local economy forward.

After successful cohorts in healthcare, construction, aviation, education and energy, UpSkill Miami continue to expand into key industries, like technology, to increase opportunities for even more job seekers. By connecting participants directly with training, coaching and job placement, UpSkill Miami is creating pathways to sustainable economic mobility and helping individuals and families build a more secure future.

Select a Career Path to Learn More Programs offered by our partners Barrington Irving Technical Training School (BITTS) Barrington Irving Technical Training School (BITTS) and United Way Miami are partnering to elevate and transform opportunities in Miami-Dade County. BITTS supports a comprehensive technical skills program, offering specialized training in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations.

This initiative provides Miami’s workforce with the necessary skills and resources to secure high-demand, well-paying jobs in the aviation industry, focusing on supporting low-income and transitioning populations.

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Facilities Fixed Based Operations (FBO) Programs offered by our partners Florida International University Programs Florida International University (FIU) and United Way Miami are partnering to empower and transform lives in Miami-Dade County.

UpSkill Miami supports FIU’s Construction Trades program, with a specialized emphasis on electrical skills, which provides eligible residents with technical skills and resources to land good-paying, high-demand jobs in Miami’s construction industry.

Electrical 6-Month Pre-Apprenticeship Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning 6-Month Pre-Apprenticeship Solar Photovoltaic Technician 6-Month Pre-Apprenticeship Goodwill Industries of South Florida and United Way Miami have partnered to offer an exciting opportunity for Miami-Dade County residents.

Through this collaboration, residents will have access to workforce development training in high-demand industries such as HVAC and construction. Programs offered by our partners Teacher Accelerator Program (TAP) Teacher Accelerator Program (TAP) and United Way Miami are partnering to elevate lives and transform educational opportunities in our community.

TAP participants take a one-semester course, followed by a six-week summer training with a $5000 stipend, earn an initial certificate to teach and begin instructing in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

This partnership aims to support TAP’s efforts in addressing the nationwide teacher shortage by recruiting, preparing, and mentoring aspiring educators through its comprehensive, streamlined program, which equips college students and career changers with the skills and knowledge to excel in the classroom.

TAP is an initiative of Achieve Miami, supported by Teacher for America Miami-Dade, and is offered by the University of Miami, Florida International University and Miami-Dade College. Teacher Accelerator Program Programs offered by our partners Florida Power & Light (FPL) Program Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Bright Pathways have developed a centralized Basic Training Program.

FPL and United Way Miami are partnering to offer this Pre-Apprenticeship Program for individuals looking to unlock a career as an Apprentice Line Specialist. This program consists of seven to eight months of formal training, including two weeks of on-the-job training experience. This is a great opportunity to become a skilled lineworker with the nation’s leading electric utility company.

Pre-Apprenticeship Program Programs offered by our partners Baptist Health South Florida is one of the nation’s preeminent healthcare institutions and a global leader in groundbreaking medical advancements, patient care, research, and innovation. Through this collaboration with United Way Miami, Baptist Health will continue expanding educational opportunities for Miami-Dade County residents interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.

Advance Program – CT Scan Technologist Radiography – Radiology Technologist Respiratory Care Therapist Behavioral / Mental Health Technician Miami Dade College Programs Miami Dade College has partnered with United Way Miami to provide scholarships for students and future professionals in the South Florida healthcare community. Through this partnership, eligible students will receive FREE tuition, books, fees, uniform and a stipend.

Central Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Technologist (last semester) Respiratory Care (last semester) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Associate Degree Nursing (last semester) Programs offered by our partners Project SECURE (Skills & Education for Cybersecurity Upskilling, Readiness, and Employment) is a 6-month cybersecurity training and apprenticeship program designed to launch or accelerate your career in the high-demand cybersecurity field.

Through a powerful collaboration between Miami EdTech , United Way Miami and Tactic. ly we’re preparing 30 individuals from Miami-Dade’s underserved communities with real-world skills, certifications, mentorship, and career opportunities in tech.
