We are pleased to announce a new opportunity to support affordable housing providers across Seattle.

We are making up to $27. 8 million in stabilization funding available to help organizations facing financial challenges. Our goal with this program is to provide the resources needed to keep affordable housing properties safe, stable, and available for the residents who call them home.

This Urgent Operating Support (UOS) Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is designed to address the current difficulties caused by rising operational costs and revenue shortfalls. By providing this assistance, we aim to maintain the health and long-term viability of Seattle’s affordable housing portfolio and continue supporting our communities. What is Urgent Operating Support Funding?

The UOS funding will provide up to $27. 8 million to eligible affordable housing organizations. These funds are specifically for addressing immediate financial issues that could impact a provider’s ability to offer safe, stable housing.

We understand that running an affordable housing property comes with many expenses, and unexpected increases can create significant strain. This funding is our direct response to help our partners manage these challenges effectively. Organizations that receive this support can use the funds for a range of essential operational costs.

The purpose is to cover the most pressing needs to ensure properties continue to run smoothly and serve residents well. Eligible uses for the money include: Rent Arrears: Covering unpaid rent from tenants who have fallen behind. Security: Paying for necessary security measures to keep residents and properties safe.

Maintenance and Repairs: Funding important upkeep and repairs to buildings. Insurance: Covering the rising costs of property insurance premiums. Other Critical Expenses: Addressing other key operational costs that are causing financial hardship.

Who is Eligible to Apply? This funding opportunity is available to affordable housing organizations that already have a partnership with us. To qualify, your organization must own and operate housing that has previously received investments from the Office of Housing (OH).

We have established this requirement to provide support to our existing partners managing OH-invested properties.
