Veterans Legacy Grants Program is a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs, administered through the National Cemetery Administration's Veterans Legacy Program (VLP). Established on Memorial Day 2016, VLP funds universities and K-12 educational organizations to research and share the stories of veterans buried in VA national cemeteries and VA-grant-funded cemeteries. The program aims to memorialize veterans in innovative, community-driven ways while raising awareness of the 157 national cemeteries operated by the NCA. Past grantees include St. Ambrose University, Black Hills State University, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Santa Fe Community College, and the West Virginia Humanities Council. Projects typically combine historical research, student engagement, and educational program development centered on local veteran histories.
Statewide Consumer Network Grant (SAMHSA Infrastructure Grants) is sponsored by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). SAMHSA's Infrastructure Grants support activities to help grantees build a solid foundation for delivering and sustaining effective mental health services. This program seeks to address the needs of underserved and under-represented consumers; of consumers with histories of trauma, veterans, or those who have been involved in the criminal justice system; and/or to promote activities related to partnership development, coalition building, legacy planning, and economic empowerment as part of the recovery process for consumers. SAMHSA strongly encourages all applicants to consider the unique needs of returning veterans and their families in developing their proposed project.
