Military & Veterans - Robert R. Mccormick Foundation Supporting Valued Citizens in Transition Transitioning to civilian life from active duty can be daunting. Members of our military have experienced physical and emotional trauma.
Some find that landing a job and obtaining housing pose complications. Financial issues can add significant stress. The McCormick Foundation is dedicated to finding high-impact ways to support veterans and their loved ones.
A seamless transition and thriving in civilian life is our goal. We believe that our veterans are an important, underused asset. Their leadership skills, diversity, team building, and overall experiences can make them invaluable employees and citizens.
Applications for funding are extended by invitation only. At this time, unsolicited letters of inquiry are not accepted. Grants & Programs Since 2020 The Foundation’s robust support for veterans includes legal-aid programs, job training, and social services.
Illinois Equal Justice Foundation Providing civil legal services and aid to active service members and veterans through the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network. Illinois Joining Forces Foundation Working to make Illinois the most welcoming and supportive state for all service members, veterans, and their families.
The Veterans Forward Initiative offers direct connections to open opportunities, career training and a career coaching team of veterans. Paving the path to reentry with the tools, training, and support needed to succeed. Chicago Horticultural Society Funding the Veteran Internship Programs at both the Chicago Botanic Gardens and Cantigny.
Additional Support for Veterans Our grantmaking complements the Foundation’s support for veterans and their families at Cantigny Park, including the First Division Museum, the Col. Robert R. McCormick Research Center, and additional special programs and events.
The museum tells the story of the U.S. military through the lens of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, with exhibits that span from WWI through present day. The museum also features an outdoor tank collection and offers educational programming for children and adults.
McCormick Research Center Open to anyone interested in military history, the center and its reading room offer a breadth and depth of materials on specialized topics including the history of the 1st Infantry Division and the life of Robert R. McCormick. Early Childhood Education
