gov . The Virginia Agriculture Food Assistance Program provides grants to charitable food-assistance organizations to purchase Virginia Grown agricultural products.

These products must be distributed to food insecure persons in Virginia in accordance with the food distribution guidelines for each charitable food Charitable food assistance organization means non-profit, or community-based, organizations operating in Virginia that provides nutrition assistance to relieve situations of emergency and distress through the provision of food to needy people is defined as food grown, packaged, or minimally processed in Virginia.

Virginia Agriculture Food Assistance Program Grant Details VDACS is seeking applications from charitable food assistance organizations with a plan to engage local farmers and growers to purchase locally grown minimally processed agricultural products that will be distributed to persons in need.

To be eligible, applicants must clearly demonstrate how the project will improve access to nutritious food and support communities in need throughout the state. A total of $1. 1 million in reimbursable funding is available for this grant round.

Each proposal is reviewed by a panel whose members are free from conflicts of interest and committed to conducting fair and impartial evaluations. As part of this process, the review panel may also recommend an award amount for selected projects. Once the review is complete, VDACS will notify all applicants—both successful and unsuccessful—of the outcome as it relates to their proposal.

Project purpose will be evaluated based on the extent to which the applicant clearly defines a plan to work with local farmers and vendors to establish relationships for purchasing food, as well as how effectively the project will provide a direct benefit to individuals experiencing food insecurity. Consideration will also be given to the applicant’s ability to demonstrate large-scale, community-wide, or regional impact.

Measurable outcomes will be assessed based on whether the proposed objectives are clear, attainable, and aligned with the overall purpose of the grant program.

The project plan will be evaluated on the extent to which the application presents a clear, well-developed, and appropriate methodology for achieving the project’s goals and objectives, including the presence of a defined timeline for implementation and a clearly articulated plan for assessing project performance.
