The purpose of the program is to improve children’s vision and eye health through early detection, follow-up, treatment, and surveillance at the national, state, and community levels for children under 5 years of age, including traditionally underserved populations,1 and those residing in medically underserved areas.
2 The recipient will be expected to: 1) Serve as a national resource at the national, state, and community-levels on children’s vision and eye health; and 2) Convene an advisory committee to provide guidance to the Vision Screening in Young Children Program on achieving improved children’s vision and eye health.
