Volunteer Fire Department Grant Cycle is sponsored by Community Foundation of Wichita Falls Area. This semi-annual grant cycle is available to Volunteer Fire Departments within the Community Foundation of Wichita Falls Area's 24-county service area.

Texas Counties: Archer, Baylor, Childress, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Haskell, Hardeman, Jack, King, Knox, Montague, Stonewall, Throckmorton, Young, Wilbarger, Wise, Wichita. Oklahoma Counties: Comanche, Cotton, Jackson, Jefferson, Stephens, Tillman. All applicants will need to create an account in the Grant Portal when applying for a grant the first time.

Grant applications must be submitted through the WFACF Grant Portal – no paper applications will be accepted. The deadlines to submit grant applications are as follows: Spring Cycle: February 1 – March 31 Fall Cycle: August 1 – September 30 Awards are typically presented in the last month of the following quarter. Awards will be made via ACH Direct Deposit.

If you are not set up for ACH deposit, please contact our office to begin the process once you have submitted your application. A VFD may apply one time in a 12-month period. If the VFD covers more than 50% of the county, they may apply twice in a 12-month period.

Areas of Funding that will considered: Personal Protective Equipment, such as bunker gear, breathing apparatus, etc. Communication devices, such as radios and pagers Truck matches; if available, WFACF will award 10% of a truck match up to $20,000 Truck parts, such as tires, windshields, transmissions, brakes, etc. Fire equipment, such as pumps, nozzles, hoses, etc. Miscellaneous equipment, such as jaws of life, chainsaws, etc. First Responder equipment Medical equipment/supplies Requests will not be considered for: Building and/or building acquisitions Equipment losses covered by insurance Please review the Grant Application Tutorial if you have any further questions regarding the grant application process.
