Projects focusing on patient treatment do not align with the mission, and basic research (not translational or clinical) with the potential to develop breakthrough technologies, instrumentation, or methodologies is prioritized. The foundation is interested in funding research that cannot be funded elsewhere due to its risky, novel, or ambitious nature.
