Guidelines and Deadlines - Waldorf Schools Fund Support Waldorf Education Grant Application Guidelines, Deadlines and Procedure Waldorf Schools Fund, Inc. is supportive of independent schools and initiatives that promote, implement, or deepen the educational principles of Rudolf Steiner. True to the founding impulse of Waldorf education, W. S.
F. acknowledges the universally human in all individuals and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, age or disability.
The fund is pleased to receive grant applications from independent schools and teacher education institutions that are eligible under the restrictions of the Trust - that is, they are full members of AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and located in the United States. Successful applicants will receive approved grant funds in a check from BNY Mellon Bank of New York.
The disbursement will be from the Nancy B Laughlin Trust. Nancy Laughlin was a deeply committed anthroposophist in Olean, New York, who recognized the importance of Waldorf education. To help support Waldorf education, she set up this trust, naming Waldorf Schools Fund as an adviser to the bank administering the trust.
In addition, the Waldorf Schools Fund may make gifts from the Fund’s own limited resources, which, in the past, have helped schools which are affiliated with AWSNA but not yet full AWSNA members, or associated organizations providing services which directly benefit Waldorf schools. The deadline for these applications is March 1st, and such applications will only be considered at the Spring meeting.
Since these funds are very limited it is advisable to contact the WSF President before submitting an application. Grant applications from eligible Waldorf Teacher Training Institutes will be considered at the Spring Board meeting (April) and applications from eligible Waldorf Schools will be considered at the Fall Board meeting (October).
In the case of emergency needs, please contact the WSF President to discuss the possibility of assistance between the regularly scheduled meetings. Grants have been made to independent schools and adult education centers for the following purposes: · Contributions to scholarship funds at the Waldorf teacher education centers in the United States.
· Projects of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America benefiting member schools—conference travel, publications, accreditation, and development.
· Capital projects such as the purchase of new property, building, expansion, renovation projects, equipment · Maintenance, repair projects and aesthetic improvements for buildings and grounds · Innovative programs · Support of conferences · Programs and consultations that deepen the teaching at a school The Waldorf Schools Fund is not able to support schools or initiatives outside of the United States, or to make grants in support of the tuition for children to attend a Waldorf school.
Parents are encouraged to work with their local Waldorf school regarding tuition assistance. March 1st for applications from eligible Waldorf Teacher Training Institutes, and for institutions that wish to apply for the Fund's own limited resources, as described above. September 15th for applications from eligible Waldorf Schools.
Applications may be submitted at anytime prior to the deadline. The deadline for reports on grants made to Waldorf schools is August 15th . That is, no later than one month before the next application deadline.

While there is no report form, please see below for information about what should be included in the report. Compile a complete packet constituting a complete application.
A complete packet will include: · Cover sheet available as a download file below for schools or institutes which may be filled in or the information supplied in your own format on a single cover sheet · Request Letter on school letterhead or with complete contact information · Income and expense statement for the previous fiscal year · Balance sheet for the previous fiscal year · Institutional budget for the current fiscal year · Budget for the specific project you are applying for if this is not spelled out in the request letter · Other supporting documents, as you may consider appropriate.
Convert the complete package, including all documents, into electronic form (PDF's are best; one single PDF is even better) and email to [email protected] in advance of the deadline. Applications may be submitted at anytime prior to the deadline. You will receive confirmation that the application has been received, is complete, and is accepted.
As of April, 2026: WE NO LONGER REQUIRE OR ACCEPT HARD COPIES. CURRENT REPORTING PROCEDURE - WALDORF SCHOOLS In order to remain in good standing with the fund and to apply for future grants, it is required that all grant recipients supply a letter stating that the funds were used for the purpose specified in the grant application.
Further, we are now requiring that school grant recipients send us a report detailing actual outcomes of the project in relation to the goals of the project. A report form for this purpose is available as a download file below. Please email the letter and report, no later than September 15th, to Dave Alsop, WSF President, at [email protected] .
CURRENT REPORTING PROCEDURE - WALDORF TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTES In order to remain in good standing with the fund and to apply for future grants, it is required that all grant recipients supply a report letter. That letter should include: the amount and purpose of the grant, the date the grant was received, a statement that the funds were used for the purpose specified in the grant application.
Reports for grants in support of tuition assistance should include the names of the tuition assistance recipients, the program in which each student is enrolled, the year (1st, 2nd or 3rd) of enrollment, and the dollar amount awarded to each student. Institutes are also encouraged to share any observations, comments or concerns in this report.
