In donations and sponsorships Through our Community Investment Fund, we partner with local organizations to address pressing needs and support long-term community resilience. By focusing on what matters most here in the DMV, we help contribute to a brighter future for our region. Our commitment extends beyond corporate giving.
Through our Energy for Good program, we support employee involvement in the causes they care about, creating meaningful opportunities to give back through volunteering across the DMV. We amplify employee impact by matching donations through our open-choice platform and recognizing those who give their time. This helps ensure our support reaches the diverse passions and priorities of our team.
In employee giving and matching Washington Gas supports local community organizations across the DMV with a focus on four priority areas: Access to essential resources is the foundation of a thriving community. We invest in programs that support basic needs, including safe housing, nutritious food, and reliable utilities, so individuals and families can pursue education, employment, and long-term stability.
Safety is a core value in everything we do, from delivering reliable energy to investing in programs that protect and strengthen the neighborhoods we serve. We support first responders, emergency assistance, safety education, disaster preparedness programs, and community safety initiatives that enhance the resilience of the communities we serve.
DC Fire and EMS Foundation > Environmental Stewardship Environmental stewardship is essential to our communities and our business. We invest in initiatives that promote energy efficiency and conservation, protect local green spaces and biodiversity, and expand environmental education to inspire community awareness and action.
Vibrant communities are built through connection, shared experiences, and opportunities for people to come together. We support programs and events that bring people together, celebrate the DMV’s diverse communities, encourage active living, and foster inclusive engagement across the neighborhoods we serve.
Blood Cancer United Light the Night > Washington Gas Partners with Food Banks Washington Gas is proud to announce partnerships with four leading nonprofit organizations — Capital Area Food Bank, Manna Food Center, Project GiveBack, and East River Family Strengthening Collaborative — to combat rising food insecurity in the DMV. Donations to these organizations will fund nearly 300,000 meals for families in need.
A Few of Our DMV Partners The Washington Gas Community Investment Fund formally requests proposals through two cycles each year, allowing us to thoughtfully review requests and align support with the most pressing needs across the DMV. Where possible, we welcome proposals that offer opportunities for employee volunteer engagement or partnerships and provide ways for Washinton Gas to help amplify a non-profit’s impact.

The Homeless Youth Program is a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services that funds services for homeless and at-risk youth across Illinois.
