Heineken Africa Foundation Grants for water, health, and sanitation in Sub-Saharan Africa Principle Office: Netherlands Heineken International is among the world’s largest producers and distributors of beer and ciders. As a part of its commitment to Africa, the Heineken Africa Foundation makes grants for water, health, and sanitation (WASH). The Foundation operates in African countries where Heineken has a local operating company.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources Water and Health . The Heineken Africa Foundation funds projects to improve mother/child care, and projects for water, sanitation, and health (WASH). Projects are located in African countries where Heineken has a local operating presence.
Projects are managed as partnerships of the Foundation, the Heineken operating companies, and local and international partners. Partners can be government organizations, development agencies, NGOs, and international organizations. Grants are up to €100 thousand per year for a maximum of three years.
APPLICATION: The Foundation publishes criteria for eligible projects, as well as the types of projects it will not support. Potentially interested local and international partners contact the Heineken operating companies to discuss their project proposals. There is an annual deadline for proposal submission.
About the program, and how to apply ( Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the regular proposal round that was planned for 2020 was not feasible anymore and therefore cancelled. ) Geographical Distribution of Grant Activities in Developing Countries Sub-Saharan Africa: Burundi, Dem Rep Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa The Foundation’s current level of support is approximately €1 million per year.
